Fantastic cocktails and delicious food. The house in which it's located is eclectic and makes for a very cozy atmosphere. The service was great as well.

The location is super cool. The atmosphere is unique in the best possible way. Large selection of quality beers. Had four different beers and each were delicious. Menu is small, but the food is tasty. Pricey, but typical for the area. Staff were friendly and good humored.

Phenomenal food for adults and children. However, the service was even better! They even went to the extent to making my children a custom tarter sauce for their fish and chips. And did I mention the jalapeño tarter sauce is the best tarter sauce I have ever tasted? Also, Ahi fish taco’s were extraordinarily delicious!!!

Great food and drink. Dropped a star for the wind howling thought the place. I'm sure the wind is nice in the middle of summer (apart from it being laced with dope) but in fall it is cold.

4.5 stars. Food was exceptional. Beer was 4 stars. Happy hour prices on house beers ($2USD off) and $4USD from specialty cocktails. If I were local I'd try the menu. Chatted up both visitors and locals alike at the small bar.

Upstairs is a great place to people watch and chill out after a rowdy social gathering. Beer isn't the greatest and the kitchen closes a little early, but the staff is friendly and it's very centrally located.

I really enjoyed my visit here. Staff were polite and it had a good atmosphere. Well worth a visit, if you are in that part of town.

Old colonial home turned into a bar, brewery, and restaurant. Really close to Petco park and great for a beer or cocktail either before or after the game. Their beer was well done, and I really enjoyed their Mexican lager and buzzwords.

The food is great+a superb selection of drinks and beer=a must to try.

The food was very flavorful and service was prompt. When I say flavorful, not one bite disappointed. We had the chicken sandwich, brussel sprouts, and mac 'n cheese. Amazing!

Cool brewery in San Diego. Two story building with indoor and outdoor seating on both levels. The service was good, the food was great, and the beers were fantastic! Definitely a place to try if you're in the area.

#buzzwords is an excellent hazy, dank, pale ale. Atmosphere is excellent for a chill evening, happy hour, etc.

Spectacular drinks and food! Although we loved the food and drinks, honestly it was the service that elevated this restaurant above all other venues we were at during our one week trip to San Diego. Our server, Brooklyn, was a spectacular host and provided the most impressively prompt service. She managed our team of 7 international scientists with ease and humor.

Kate was our bartender and she was great... Very friendly. Had the Mac and cheese which is total comfort food.

Really good beer and maybe the best fish and chips I've had anywhere. Nice atmosphere set up in an old house close to the baseball stadium. I had one of the IPAs (Thanks "5" Thousand) I found it to be crisp with a nice citrus flavor. The fish and chips were served up fresh and hot. The beer batter was very crispy and the fries were perfect. If you are a fish and chips person you will enjoy these.

This is my favorite little brewery in San Diego. Located a few steps from PetCo Park, HDBC has a great selection of beers and a wonderful atmosphere. Their Tripel was my favorite, followed closely by the peanut butter milk stout. The building feels and looks like a beach house in the middle of the city, which makes for a unique experience. They also have a full menu, of which I would recommend the pretzel bites. Be sure to check this place out!!

Food was good, beer was very good. One party did complain about the turkey sandwich, but I enjoyed my burger and our third person enjoyed their salad. All three beers ordered were excellent.

5-star food, brews, and service! I ordered the pretzel bites and the Turkey Brie sandwich. The food is absolutely heavenly and mid-priced ($8 app and $14 sandwich). The sandwich was enormous and enough for two people to split. Beer aside, the fresh, unprocessed food on the menu alone is well worth a visit. And the beer- oh em gee, if you like beer, you need to come check this place out. I ordered the Buzzword IPA to start (bright, spritzy) and finished with a flight of 6 beers. My personal favorite was a toss up between Buzzword IPA and Flour Power, an all day style ale.The music, atmosphere, and cleanliness will bring me back to this place every time I stumble into San Diego. They also have a happy hour menu! Ask for Evan!

It's a trip to step out this place see the baseball field in Petco Park. Good brews and Irish style grub.

The French fries are weird. They taste like they are potatoes that have been mashed with sour cream and then fried into French fries. Definitely not my favorite. But my beer was fine and the appetizers were fine. Service was also good.

Beautiful brewery pub. Food is amazing - influenced by traditional Irish fare. Have eaten here many times. Beer selection is varied and rates highly. Staff are awesome. Must visit in San Diego

HDBC Burger (Both Normal & Beyond versions) were great. Peach tea cocktail is also good.Good atmosphere, good location.

DELICIOUS!! You can't get better than fresh, homemade style food and a dog friendly patio. My friends ordered different items and after sampling each one, I realized that I couldn't go wrong with any choice off the menu. Fresh cut french fries, refreshing cocktails, service with a smile, cooked to order food and a patio with views. We came for brunch although a limited menu, still yum. Perfect for a hangover. Please bring the bahn mi back - that's why I came!

Awesome little brewery with an amazing range of beers. They have ventured away from the typical brews and explored different flavours which was great to try. Will hopefully find time to come back in the next few days before we leave San Diego to try more beers and the food.

Great food. And really great beer. The best black IPA I've ever had. My friend had the Mexican style lager and she said it was the best she'd had. Recommend!

Very nice pub work good food too! Microbrewery and restaurant in an old house smack in the middle of east village, close to Petco. Outside seating in the porch also an upstairs dining area which is very cool. Good beers, good food, City above the normal brewery or tasting room.

I had four different IPA's, all tasty, and the staff were all super nice. I got the fish and chips and the fish was incredible. The fries have this vinegar powder seasoning-type stuff on them and the flavor was unlike any french fries I've ever had, they were outstanding. I didn't even open the ketchup because the fries had such an interesting and delicious taste. I will 100% be coming back to Half Door the next time I'm in town.

So I was expecting a basic brewery - no. This place is part brewery part restaurant, has a patio area, indoor seating, a couch if you're wanting to sit on a fancy leather couch with your beer, and a second floor. They are also a restaurant - I had the pork belly hash - it was great. Honestly everything there looked great. The beer was very good. They have bottomless mimosas for $14 or $15. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised, and ended up hanging out on the couch with my beer and reading for a while after I thought I would have left. Cool place. Very neat old bar vibe with wood and leather.

Nick, my server was down to earth and friendly, provided excellent customer service. Very cool Victorian style home with lower open seating and open deck dining upstairs as well. Hard to describe this venue other than a pleasant and very unique environment and old home now a..... Worth a visit for your own assessment. Oh yeah almost forgot. The IPA’S were very good as well. 😎

Cool location, nice outdoor spot that you can enjoy if you want. The beers were really good. The upstairs was closed, I would go back again so I could check it out. But over all a good place with quality beers

Great location in downtown San Diego. You are very close to Petco Park. If there is anything going on over there you can hear it. Half Door has a good selection of both indoor and outdoor seating. The service is good but got a bit slow after getting our food. We waited longer than we would have liked for refills on the drinks. They have a nice selection of beers they brew. Plus a full bar. The crispy chicken sandwich was just that. Nice and crispy with good flavor. The sausage flat bread had a ton of sausage. Much more than expected which was a nice surprise. Unfortunately the crust was a bit thick, dry, and did not have the best flavor. Carrying on a conversation was not a challenge.
